Under this agreement, MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) will leverage VeriSign's global security consultants to build a world-class security management infrastructure that exceeds international standards and establishes a new level of best practices.

"We consider this a highly strategic initiative. Security breaches, hacking, and malicious attacks are becoming increasingly complicated, causing damage and interruption to businesses across the globe. With the increase in mobile usage for Internet and data services access, there is increased risk of attacks on mobile devices. MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) is uncompromising when it comes to the quality of its services and the confidentiality of customers' information," said Khalid Muhtadi, Chief Operations Officer - IT and Customer Services at MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain).

"Our customers have found that our mobile data services portfolio is easy to deploy and guarantees high levels of accessibility and accuracy," said Muhtadi. "However, with the launch of our nationwide 3G services and highly competitive and tailored corporate services, we recognize the need to provide advanced security features to preempt any threats to our customers."

"This major milestone solidifies our market leadership position and expands the boundaries of our long term market potential," said Muhtadi. "We have an opportunity to leverage this achievement with a high-caliber provider such as VeriSign and the complementary strengths and synergies it brings, particularly in the areas of technology development and marketing initiatives."

"VeriSign is pleased to be working closely with MTC-Vodafone to help bring secure 3G and digital content solutions to market," said Souheil Badran, Vice President, VeriSign. "As the next significant area of growth for communications service providers, MTC-Vodafone is leveraging VeriSign's security expertise to protect its digital assets and continue focusing on meeting customer demand for secure services over broadband networks."

VeriSign's highly skilled team of security professionals designs, builds, and manages the security of some of the world's largest organizations, including telecommunications companies, financial institutions, and many others. MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) and VeriSign are working together to ensure that MTC-Vodafone's customers benefit from VeriSign's unrivalled ability to provide intelligent security services.
