DCCI receives Bengali Minister of Commerce

Mr. Majed Hamad Al Shamsi, 2nd Vice-President of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry received today Honorable Altaf Hussein Choudhury, Minister of Commerce in Bangladesh, in the presence of Mr. Mirza Shamsuzzaman, Bengali Ambassador to UAE.

The meeting discussed the bilateral commercial and economic relationships between Bangladesh and UAE-Dubai in Particular and the ways of fostering communication and interaction between business communities in both sides.

Mr. Shamsi highlighted the advantages of exploiting the advantages of Dubai as an economic and international hub. "Dubai Government free market and pro-business policy has created the most competitive business environment in the region", he said.

"The excellent business environment for business growth in Dubai is represented by the stable economic policies, internationally competitive living style, modern public services and labor disputes free market", he stressed.

He pointed out to the accelerating and non bureaucratic governmental procedures that constitute a second to non pattern to be traced by other countries.

Bangladesh government is conducting several reforming steps to develop the economy which positively resulted excellent Bengali products in the markets.

The Bengali Minister assured that everything is going on progress unless there is a political or natural unrest.

One encouraging note: growth has bee a steady 5 % for the past several years. GDP real growth rate is 5.3 % (2003 estimation).

Honorable Choudhury spoke on the development in a lot of industries such as textiles which very competitive in the market in quality and prices.

Both sides agreed on the necessity of developing contacts and exchanging visits and delegation as a progressive path to foster bilateral relationships.
