This grant will cover seven full one-year tuition scholarships to be administered under the University's student fund program, which provides educational assistance to distinguished and underprivileged students enrolled at PSUT.

With the aim of empowering Jordanian students to fulfill their potential, the Motorola Foundation grant will cover tuition expenses for one year for students majoring in computer science, electronics engineering, or computer engineering.

"The Motorola Foundationīs mission and that of Princess Sumaya University for Technology share a common thread - to enable young persons in this community to achieve success through education and development," said Motaz Hourani, Motorola country manager in Jordan. "Jordan's development as a technology-centric economy will be furthered by students such as these, who contribute to the growth of the country as a whole."

"The University is honored that the Motorola Foundation has chosen to work with us in our endeavor to graduate the most capable and committed students, no matter what their background," said Professor Hisham Ghassib, President of PSUT. "We are both pioneers in our respective subject areas and it is encouraging to see a multinational organization contributing at a local level. We hope that this marks the beginning of further cooperation with Motorola in our efforts to build an information-rich society in Jordan."

Earlier this month and on behalf of PSUT, Professor Ghassib received the grant check from Motorola Country Manager Motaz Hourani, in the presence of HRH Princess Sumaya, Chairperson of the University's Board of Trustees.

This contribution to PSUT is the third Motorola Foundation grant that has been announced since the beginning of the year in support of educational initiatives in the Middle East and North Africa region. Motorola Foundation recently made charitable contributions to Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates and Morocco's National Institute of Communications (INPT).

Established in 1953, the Motorola Foundation provides funding to higher education institutions around the world as well as a multitude of primary and secondary education programs to assist individuals in reaching their potential and becoming lifelong learners.
