Tekno 2005, which is an integral part of ArabPlast 2005, will be held during March 20-23 2005 in Hall 2 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre (DIEC). The one-of-its-kind machinery trade fair will showcase latest advancements in technology and tools by leading global companies.

Highlighting the significance of the show, Mr. Satish Khanna, General Manager, Al Fajer Information & Services, organisers of Tekno 2005, said: "The success of Tekno 2005 is reflective of the increasing share of manufacturing in the region's non-oil sector. The buoyancy in the manufacturing industry is backed by the region's new industrial zones and free zones that offer good infrastructure, power and communications."

"The manufacturing sector has attracted huge investments in recent years, given high spends by Arab governments, massive projects by the private sector and increased downstream hydrocarbon activity," Mr. Khanna added.

It has further gained momentum on account of the long-term economic diversification policies of governments to develop the non-oil sector, he said. "Manufacturing is a key area of growth in the Middle East and the show will provide an ideal platform to meet prospective business partners and strike deals. I am confident that Tekno 2005 will generate much more business as compared to its previous editions and catalyse investments in Middle East's manufacturing sector."

Around 150 companies are expected to participate from 12 countries in Tekno 2005, of which Turkey and the Czech Republic will have official pavilions. China, Czech Republic and Denmark will be first-time participants in the show.

Display will include CNC machines, laser cutting machinery, tooling, lathe machines, press brakes, punching machines, bending machines, pneumatic and hydraulics, injection moulding, blow moulding technology and plastic machinery.

Leading companies exhibiting their products in the show include Trumpf of Germany, LVD of Belgium, Precision of Morocco, Imas, Imak, Ermakson, Dalgakiran, Polat, Yildrin, Aydin, Birim Makina, Demirci and Ozarar of Turkey, Parco, Chern Horng, Kai Mei Plastic, Labelman, Hemingston, Kung Hsing, John Huan, Longnew and Pitac of Taiwan and Peterson of Denmark.
