Nine restaurants were given the best of category awards for the year 2004.

• Best Oriental Restaurant: Asia Live! The Marriot
• Best Continental Restaurant: Za Moda Intercontinental
• Best Indian Restaurant: Chingari Ramada
• Best Fast Food Restaurant: Kentucky Fried Chicken
• Best Coffee Shop: Starbucks
•Best Vegetarian Restaurant: The Garden Restaurant
•Best Restaurant for Children: Mc Donald's
•Best Ambiance: Habanos, The Ritz Carlton
The awards were presented by Mr.Yousuf Jaseem Darwish, Publisher & Editor in Chief of Qatar Today. Senior dignitaries and officials were also present at the event.
Qatar Today Restaurant awards was instituted in October 2004, this unique promotion invited readers and food aficionados to vote for their favourite restaurant. The public voted using the voting forms carried within the magazine and kept at the participating restaurants, shopping malls and other popular joints. Speaking about the response Mr.Ravi Raman (Manager Qatar Today) said 'We always knew that this idea would create interest among our readers and general public, but frankly even we were surprised with the amazing response. We actually had to go for 2 reprints of the voting forms.'
Talking about the future plans he added 'This is the first of the many such intiatitives that Qatar Today plans to launch in the country. As Qatar is progressing and the market maturing, everything has to be world class and that goes for media too.It is important that media titles are marketed as brands and the end consumer (i.e reader) builds a strong relationship with it. Reading is still not a strong habit in middle east, but it is changing and as media brands offer more, readers will buy more!! '
Qatar Today Restaurant Awards culminates in a glittering Awards night
3rd of March saw the best of hospitality brands vying for the ultimate recognition as the best in business.
