Scientists, engineers and key decision makers from all over the world will attend the management and technical conference for an in depth examination of water reuse technology.

Dubai Techno Park, a representative of the IDA in the MENA region, has been designed to attract foreign investment in research of oil and gas, desalination and environment management.

Abdulla Al Qurashi, Chief Executive Officer, Techno Park said, "Dubai Techno Park was created with the focus on water, energy and environment. The significance of water conservation and reuse is of prime importance in the 21st century, taking into account the scarcity of uncontaminated and desalinated water in many parts of the world. Moreover, in the Gulf region, 80 per cent of the water is used for agricultural purposes, which makes desalination a pre-requisite."

"The two day conference will focus on water reuse technology and examine why this needs to be a major part of all regional water management and development programs. Participants will gain by interacting with the leading international experts who will share their vast experience and expertise on water reuse," added Al Qurashi.

More than 20 distinguished speakers will address the participants during the two days. The prominent speakers on day one include, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, Techno Park, Abdulhamid Al Mansour, President IDA, H.E Deputy Minister Dr. Ali Al Tokhais, Dr. Farouk El Baz, Director for Remote Sensing, Boston University and Dr. Abdulmalik Al Alshaikh, Secretary General, Prince Sultan International Award for Water.

Attendees at the conference can expect to learn about the development and utilisation of water reuse technology from prominent practitioners. The forum will include a discussion of water reuse in the Gulf, the NeWater program in Singapore, Water Factory 21, Membrane Bioreactors (MBR) and other technical tools for water reuse. Membrane users, water agency professionals, engineers and suppliers, involved in water treatment and supply are expected to benefit by learning about the latest technology in water reuse.

Techno Park represents the IDA in Dubai, following an agreement signed recently between the two parties. This conference is first of the series of international water forums that will be organised jointly with the Techno Park, to provide leadership in water technologies and management.

"The Arab world is forecasted to invest more than US $ 30 billion in desalination projects in the next 10 years. Techno Park works closely with the IDA to promote desalination in the region. Desalination is one of the main clusters focused by the Techno Park, by having desalination technology and research and development industries," concluded Al Qurashi.

Dubai Techno Park is home to some of the world leaders in the technology sector. It is the first technology park of its kind in the Middle East and it brings with it the backing of the Government of Dubai as well as many private and semi-private organisations.
