UAE car sales up 17pc

The UAE car market grew around 17 per cent in 2004, according to Al Futtaim Motors MD Colin Leitch. AFM, the sole distributor for Toyota, holds 32 per cent of the market, and saw its own sales grow 18 per cent in 2004. Nine new Toyotas will be launched in 2005. The brand recorded 12 per cent growth in light commercial vehicles, and 20 per cent in sedan cars.
