  • PRESS RELEASE

Hilton International is spearheading a development drive that sees the opening of three new properties in the Arabian Peninsula over the next two years, the management of an exclusive golf clubhouse and the completion of a multi-million refurbishment programme.

In the company's annual results for 2004, profits rose in the Middle East and Asia Pacific region by 12.8 percent - with the Middle East region recording good performance and a 19.3 percent growth in RevPAR (revenue per available room).

"A key contributor to our success in 2004 has come from our two main international feeder markets - where we have seen a 23 per cent increase in revenue from the UK - while from Germany, an astounding 138 per cent growth. The Russian market is also growing at a fast pace with a 92 per cent rise in revenue. To capitalise on this success and to further boost business from these markets, we are, for the first time launching a dedicated PR campaign at ITB in Berlin which starts on March 11," said Rudi Jagersbacher, Hilton International's Vice President, Arabian Peninsula.

The first property in the development pipeline is Qasr Al Sharq, the new 46-suite palace property in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia due to open in the third quarter of 2005 and set to become the Kingdom's premier property and the region's most luxurious and exclusive hotel.

Expansion plans also include a spectacular 324-room new-build Hilton Doha opening in Qatar in 2007, the region's first Conrad, a luxurious 350-room property located in the heart of Dubai's commercial, business and entertainment district, as well as the management of the new and exclusive Tower Links Golf Clubhouse, Ras Al Khaimah in the Northern Emirates.

Meanwhile, the leading hotel chain's flagship Abu Dhabi property, has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment, introducing a brand new lobby, renovated bedrooms, the latest business-centre facilities, conference and banqueting rooms and the UAE capital's first Bice Italian restaurant.

In the recently issued statement of results for 2004, Hilton International's profits totalled £171.3 million; a 17 percent increase from 2003.

"We are delighted to report an extremely successful 2004. The Hilton brand has over the past years affirmed its leadership position in the Middle East, and indeed worldwide, evident by the 2004 BDRC findings. As we continue to reinvent and refresh our products and services, and offer exciting new hotels and experiences, our brand will just get better and better," Jagersbacher commented.
