High ranking Australian delegation visits DUBAL complex

In a high-status visit indicative of the incomparable international standing and distinguished position of one of Dubai's great success stories, Mr. Mohammed Al Ghurair, Managing Director, DUBAL, and Mr. Abdullah J. M. Kalban, Chief Operating Officer, DUBAL, received a high-ranking Australian delegation at the aluminium giant's premises.

The delegation included HE Mr. Loftus Harris, Director General of the New South Wales Department of State and Regional Development; Mr. Eric Cantwell, Senior Manager for Trade Relations; Mr. Peter Linford, Consul-General and Senior Trade Commissioner; and Mr. Greg Coelho, Senior Business Development Manager for Australia at the Trade Commission in Dubai.

"It is definitely rewarding that our valued guest HE Mr. Loftus Harris chose DUBAL as an important place to visit as a part of his busy itinerary. This pinpoints the measure of how Dubai's success is reflected in DUBAL's status as an internationally recognized business success story. It also indicates that DUBAL is time and again being internationally acclaimed as one of the leading aluminium producers in the world," said Mr. Mohammed Al Ghurair.

The high-ranking Australian delegation later held discussions with Mr. Mohammed Al Ghurair, Mr. Abdullah J. M. Kalban, Mr. Khalid Buhumaid, General Manager, Corporate Affairs Department, DUBAL, other high-ranking board members and senior company executives.

During the meeting, various corporate issues including the direction of future cooperation and other key measures were discussed. Australia is the main supplier of alumna, the basic raw material for producing aluminium. The delegation also had an opportunity to see DUBAL's corporate video listing various stages of development throughout the 25 years of existence.

Later, the delegation was taken around several of the complex's various locations including its massive Potlines, DUBAL's renowned massive smelting operations area, desalination sites and other key spots of this sprawling aluminium plant.

"The high-ranking delegation's visit to DUBAL was fruitful. The occasion offered us an opportunity to showcase our unique methods of operation, including our expansion plans and our management training techniques. We are sure we can look forward to this fruitful cooperation growing manifold in the future," said Mr. Abdullah J. M. Kalban.

"What I saw is quite extraordinary. DUBAL is definitely an incredible industrial operation backed up by excellent state-of-the-art technology. The management runs the entire set up extremely professionally. I am left with an indelible impression about DUBAL's business model. I am sure the DUBAL model could give other industries an example to follow," said HE Mr. Loftus Harris.
