Wataniya customers will have access to a fully homogeneous EDGE network, with a new SIM card that changes the customer's mobile interface and provides a platform for highly advanced mobile services. The upgrade is being carried out at no additional cost to customers.

"We're rolling out the red carpet for our customers across Kuwait as we set new standards for mobile services," said Harri Koponen, CEO, Wataniya Telecom. "Our customers today are empowered with the best network quality, 100% coverage across Kuwait and a guarantee of the best mobile experience. We're provisioning next generation services, and this is the first step in that direction, putting a more powerful SIM in our customers' hands as well as a more powerful network in place to serve them."

Over the past two months Wataniya Telecom has been rebuilding the entire network infrastructure and extending coverage into and throughout the desert areas of Kuwait. The move significantly enhances call quality and will support the rollout of a range of highly advanced mobile services, including true m-commerce, information services, locational services and more.

Koponen added: "The mobile culture in Kuwait is recognised as one of the most advanced in the region and our customers are reliant on their mobiles to a great extent. Wataniya Telecom is going the extra mile to ensure that our customers know they have a network they can rely on totally, 24x7, for access services that will make their lives easier, and a high level of security."

The new SIM card is the tool that will open up this new world to Wataniya customers. The SIM card features a Wataniya Telecom menu, which is set up to include the customer's preferred services. And even when the customer decides to change their handsets, the features on the SIM remain constant, thus creating a single, constant interface through the SIM card.

Customers can receive their new SIM cards from any of the existing Wataniya Telecom branches across Kuwait as well as twelve additional locations set up for the next three months in every mall in the country. The upgrade program includes customer information processes to show people how they can immediately benefit from the power of the new SIM, as well as including a range of benefits for customers from day one.
