- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, March 09 - 2005 at 15:56
- PRESS RELEASE
ABN AMRO recently hosted an exclusive event at the offices in Dubai for its Van Gogh Preferred Banking clients, during which Dr Mark Mobius, Managing Director of Singapore based Templeton Asset Management Ltd, spoke on 'An Overview and Outlook on Emerging Markets'.
He advised that one of the most important lessons of investing is to take a long-term view when considering investment options in emerging markets. Dr. Mobius said that the amount of equity that can be absorbed in India and China were enormous as these economies were growing at a phenomenal rate of 8 % to 9 %.
He listed Korea, Taiwan, China, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, Turkey and to a lesser extent Mexico as the top picks for emerging markets. He also highlighted the fact that many have overlooked the role of Taiwan in the development of China.
Dr Mobius who has worked for more than 30 years in emerging markets was voted one of the 'Ten Top Money Managers of the 20th Century' in a survey by the Carson Group in 1999. He is the author of the books 'Trading with China', The Investor's Guide to Emerging Markets', 'Mobius on Emerging Markets', and 'Passport to Profits'.
The event marks the second "Hi Tea" in the series of special events planned exclusively for clients of ABN AMRO's Van Gogh Preferred Banking service. Launched in the UAE in January 2002, the Van Gogh Preferred Banking service is enjoyed by ABN AMRO clients in 13 countries around the world. The range of exclusive services includes a dedicated personal Relationship Manager who offers in-depth knowledge about client's relationships with the bank. A client who opts for Van Gogh Preferred Banking will also receive a host of benefits and privileges including complete financial planning assistance and access to an exclusive and private "Van Gogh Preferred Banking lounge."
