- PRESS RELEASE
Batelco, in conjunction with the Bahrain Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, is launching the Batelco Challenge -a series of three races that are set to form the 'jewels in the crown' for The Kingdom of Bahrain's 2005 flat racing season.
"If one horse wins all three races in the Batelco Challenge, the owner will receive a bonus purse of BD15,000, making the Batelco Challenge one of the richest purses in the 2005 racing calendar," says Ahmed Al Janahi, Senior Manager - Corporate Affairs at Batelco. "Today, we'll find out which horse could make history as Bahrain's first Batelco Challenge winner."
To help celebrate the launch of this historic day, Batelco is giving racegoers the chance to win brand new mobile phones in a lottery draw at the racetrack. Every person entering the spectators' stand will be given a numbered ticket and four lucky people will win a mobile phone in a random draw held during the afternoon.
"We are delighted to sponsor the Batelco Challenge and give racegoers this opportunity to enjoy an entertaining day at the races," says Ahmed "A love of horses and a passion for racing are inextricably linked with The Kingdom of Bahrain and these three races - together with our generous prize fund - will fuel interest and a will to win amongst jockeys, owners and spectators, alike."
The Batelco Challenge sponsorship forms part of the company's commitment to sporting excellence within The Kingdom of Bahrain. Other major Batelco sports sponsorships include: The Bahrain National Football Team, the Bahrain Premier League, Bahrain International Circuit, The Bahrain National Basketball Team and League and the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation.
