31 Global aluminium industry leaders visit Dubal complex

In a high profile visit suggestive of the supreme international reputation and renowned high status of one of Dubai's success stories, Mr. Mohammed Al Ghurair, Managing Director, DUBAL and Mr. Abdullah bin Kalban, Chief Operations Officer, DUBAL, received recently a 31-member delegation of major international aluminium industry VIPs at the aluminium giant's premises on March 10, 2005.
"The visit offered us a wonderful opportunity to showcase DUBAL's unique method of operation and the professional set up we have. The delegation members were keen to appreciate our successful mode of operation. I am sure every one of them left with an undeniable impression about our achievements," Mr. Abdullah bin Kalban said.
At the DUBAL complex, the delegation of 31 industry leaders held meetings and discussions with members of senior management, of the aluminium giant on the various initiatives currently being taken up by DUBAL. They also discussed the latest developments in the global aluminium industry.
Later, the delegation toured the expansive DUBAL complex including the power station, massive potlines, renowned smelting operations and other key locations.
"The growth and success of DUBAL, internationally recognized as a major producer in its 25th year of operations, evidently impressed these industry captains. They were keen to personally witness the various projects DUBAL has undertaken, its impressive development over the 25 years and the latest state-of-the-art technology that is in use currently," said Mr. Mohammed Al Ghurair.
The 31 industry VIPs from all over the world were top-notch experts in their respective areas of specialty and represent a cross-section of leaders in the global aluminium industry. The delegation included officials from global giants like Rio Tinto, Alcoa Inc, Alcan Alesa, Corus, Alstom Norway, NKM Noell, Eskom, Rusal, W.J.Towell & Co, Norsk Hydro, BPT Bechtel, Zhuhai Hongfan Non-ferrous Metals Chemicals Engineering etc. Mr. John Perry of Brunei Economic Development Board was also part of the delegation.
The delegation expressed their appreciation of what they saw and also endorsed what they saw is certainly a world class smelter; they thanked DUBAL Management for the hospitality extended to them.
Prior to their visit to the sprawling DUBAL complex, these experts were in Muscat, Oman, to participate in the Third Aluminium and Power Conference organized by Metal Events from March 7-9, 2005.
