'This is the first race of its kind in the region and we are very proud to host it in Ras Al Khaimah,' said HE Eng. Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qassimi. 'Ras Al Khaimah offers the perfect location for this type of activity and we hope to have this as an annual event.'

Two-person teams will converge on the UAE's Northern Emirate on March 18th, 2005. They will traverse 50 kilometers of the UAE's breathtaking terrain using only non-motorized forms of transportation such as mountaineering, mountain biking, and hiking.
HE Sheikh Salem emphasized 'the peak of Jebel Jais which most racers aim to reach is a unique location in the Emirates. With mild summer temperatures and snow in the winter, it is unrivalled as a mountain resort in the Gulf.'
Arabian Quest is the UAE's first Eco-Adventure Race, attracting the best expedition athletes from around the region. The race also includes a strong environmental message. Mountain Extreme has joined forces with the World Wide Fund for Nature to raise awareness and funds for projects in the UAE.
Owned and organized by Mountain Extreme, the Arabian Quest is held under the patronage of HE Eng. Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, chairman of the RAK Civil Aviation authority.
