The move comes on the heels of a global expansion underway for the dynamic young company that has strategic alliances with Microsoft, Computer Associates, Pointsec and Skype™. Distribution deals with Sound Solutions Americas LLC and Portable Add-ons USA, have been secured to sell the i-mate™ JAM and i-mate™ SP3i into the U.S., two of the most coveted devices in the i-mate™ range. The i-mate™ JAM, the world's slimmest Pocket PC phone, made its US debut at this year's Oscar's as part of the VIP goody bags for the Vanity Fair party.
All i-mate™ devices operate on Microsoft Windows Mobile™ software; giving it a familiar feel and making it compatible with many personal computers. They come with many applications built-in such as Windows Media Player, Pocket Outlook, MSN Messenger, a digital camera (1.3 mega pixel for the i-mate™ JAM model), video recorder and player, games and much more.
Commenting on the occasion of the i-mate™ launch into the U.S., Scott Horn, Senior Director for the Mobile and Embedded Devices Division at Microsoft Corp., said, 'Microsoft is thrilled the innovative i-mate™ JAM is being offered to U.S. customers. This compelling hardware design by Carrier Devices underscores the flexibility of the Windows Mobile™ platform and the unique choices customers have when great hardware and powerful, integrated software come together.'
Jim Morrison, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of i-mate™ said, 'North America is of tremendous strategic importance us. There has already been significant demand for our handsets here, and with our customized corporate solutions, we have aggressive marketing plans to replicate the success we are enjoying in other markets. CTIA Wireless is excellent venue to share this announcement as we further cement our relationships with other leaders in the wireless industry.'
i-mate™ is a dynamic company at the cutting edge of smart mobile technologies and is now entering the U.S. market. i-mate™'s exciting new devices, the i-mate™ SP3i and the i-mate™ JAM, will be available throughout the U.S. from mid March 2005.
