Tejari's major technology upgrade brings new benefits to customers around the world
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, March 16 - 2005 at 12:50
- PRESS RELEASE
Tejari, the Middle East online marketplace, has implemented the first globally-deployed Oracle Exchange version 6.2.5, which will deliver a host of added security and functionality features to its extensive customer base, the company said today.
As Tejari offers a 24/7 mission critical service to its customers in the region, it was vital to minimize the impact of the upgrade on business. Executives at the company realized that the Eid break provided the ideal opportunity for the Oracle deployment, and the implementation team worked hard to ensure completion to the deadline.
"To our knowledge this is the first time that such a complex and highly specialized technology upgrade has been completed in only three days," said Saqib Iqbal, Chief Operating Officer, Tejari. "We were determined that our customer service would not be compromised, even though the new implementation was extremely complicated. That's why we worked through Eid, deploying meticulous planning and pre-deployment testing to ensure the success of the upgrade."
Using Oracle Exchange, a special product of its E-Business suite for the marketplace, Tejari has also upgraded the Oracle Applications to 11.5.9, and the Oracle Database has been scaled up to 9i.
In line with the high levels of functionality that Tejari customers expect, the upgrade now provides a host of new features. Among the most popular tools are facilities to cross copy auctions and requests for quotations; manage auction award workflow; and support non-catalog requests such as saving items in a shopping cart.
Along with the enriched functionality, the technology upgrade has further strengthened Tejari's security features that already guarantee complete confidentiality for all its customers.
Tejari's Quality Assurance procedure assures that functionality is fully tested and approved before general release while the business development team is on hand to guide customers through the new functionality offered by Tejari's online marketplace. The customer services department provides additional support for customers as they familiarize themselves with the new features.
The upgrade follows the recent announcement that Tejari had completed phase one of its comprehensive Oracle CRM (Customer Relationship Management) initiative at its United Arab Emirates headquarters, benefiting the company's 3,100 trading partners across the region.
As part of Tejari's technology strategy for enhanced customer care, the company will be bringing online more products, services and functionality upgrades in the pipeline which are expected to go live shortly.
