Gulf of Oman License Block 18 awarded to Reliance Industries Ltd.

The Government of the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Oil and Gas (MOG) are pleased to announce that the License Block 18, Gulf of Oman has been awarded to Reliance Industries Ltd. of India.

Block 18 is situated in the offshore Gulf of Oman between Block 41 and the border with the Fujuriah offshore block and comprises approximately 21 000 sq km's.

The Licensed Block 18 formed part of the Sultanate of Oman License Round which was offered to the industry in conjunction with the PGS MC2D-GO2002 seismic survey. The seismic package comprised a regional 2D grid of 5839 line-km's covering the entire blocks 18 and 41, Gulf of Oman which cover 45 240 sq km's in water depths of 50-3000m.

Closures on the order of hundreds of square kilometers have been outlined. Reservoirs are potentially stacked in growth-fault roll-over anticlines and collapsed-crest listric fault blocks. Diapir flanks and flower structures provide additional structural closures. Stratigraphic pinchouts are additionally evident in seismic sections.
