This latest addition to the U.S. Robotics 125Mbps Turbo Wireless Networking suite has the power, features and flexibility to be the foundation of a wireless business network with shared Internet connectivity. Providing up to ten times more security than standard wireless networks, it includes network administration capabilities and advanced features to keep business data secure.

"In most offices today you are likely to find an array of multi-media equipment including several PCs, laptops and a printer. Having these elements connected without wires means that users can share one Internet connection, printer and data files securely and at high speed and yet there is no requirement to drill holes or lay cables. U.S. Robotics' powerful 125 Mbps range puts what would have once been the preserve of big business within the price range of smaller businesses and if you decide to re-locate, you can literally just pick up your network and take it with you, there's no need to re-install," explains Peter Blampied, Director of Sales and Operations, Europe Middle East and Africa, U.S. Robotics.

The new Wireless Turbo Multi-Function Access Point provides enhanced networking speeds with the 125Mbps Accelerator Technology that boosts standard 802.11g performance up to 25 percent. Based on built-in 256-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption, the USR 5450 ensures superior security for business networks. Its WPA (Wi-Fi protected Access) protects against hackers. It is also equipped with built-in MAC (media access control) address authentication and 802.1x network authentication support.

The USR 5450 features SNMP (simple network management protocol) for network administration, which is configurable to transmit/receive power control for the best possible coverage when multiple access points are used in a single network. It also boasts a powerful class-leading ARM9 processor for maximum data transfer in large, critical networks.

The access point includes five key wireless capabilities in one product - Access Point (wireless base station), Bridge (links two networks), Multi-Bridge (links multiple networks), Client (provides wireless access to any Ethernet device - great for Linux-based PCs, printers etc) and Repeater (extends the range of wireless networks).

The USR 5450 Wireless Turbo Multi-Function Access Point is available now from all retail outlets like Quality Computers, ABC, Plug In Electronix, Etech, CompuME, Jarrir Bookstore, amongst others in the Middle East.

U.S. Robotics' 802.11g Wireless Turbo products provide accelerated speeds, better security and broader compatibility than standard 802.11g products. The line's versatility and simplicity makes it easy to set up a wireless network with, or without, an existing wired network and without expensive infrastructure costs. The unique, SecureStack, modular case design of U.S. Robotics networking gear requires minimal space, so small-to-medium size businesses can grow their networks with an entire family of other U.S. Robotics networking and broadband devices.

To ensure the fastest data throughput rates at all times, U.S. Robotics designed the 802.11g Wireless Turbo line for total compatibility with all 54 Mbps 802.11g, 22 Mbps 802.11b and 11 Mbps 802.11b wireless devices. U.S. Robotics' 802.11g Wireless Turbo products ensure that each device will securely connect independently at the highest speed possible with any combination of 802.11g and 802.11b wireless devices. Unlike other high-speed networking technology, U.S. Robotics maximises network capacity by placing all the speed on a single channel - enabling faster file transfers between multiple network users.

The full U.S. Robotics 802.11g 125Mbps Wireless Networking Suite comprises four products. Besides the 802.11g Wireless Turbo Multi-Function Access Point (USR 5450), the suite includes the 802.11g Wireless Turbo PCI Adapter (USR 5416), which allows users to wirelessly connect to the power of an entire network from their desktop computer. The included Site Survey feature makes finding the closest access point easy and simplifies wireless network configuration.

On the other hand, the 802.11g Wireless Turbo PC Card (USR 5410) lets laptop users take the power of an entire network with them to stay connected to e-mail, shared files and the Internet from wherever the user needs it. The PC card's unique low-power design gets the most from a laptop's battery to keep users online longer.

The U.S. Robotics 802.11g 125Mbps Wireless Networking Suite also includes a 802.11g Wireless Turbo Router (USR 8054), which is ideal for sharing a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection, data files, music and games among multiple computers. The router includes four products in one - an Access Point, 4-port Ethernet switch, router and firewall.
