Dubai Media City has been named the winner of the 'Service to Industry' award, during the first digitalstudio Industry Leadership Awards 2005 ceremony held last week.

According to the organizers, Dubai Media City won the award for its role "in bringing together the broadcast industry and giving it the support it has needed."

The event was hosted by ITP Business and digitalstudio magazine, at the Al Wasl Ballroom of the Dusit Hotel. Over 200 key industry figures attended this first awards event, which was held in association with CABSAT, the Middle East's leading electronic media and communications trade show.

The director of Dubai Studio City, Dr. Amina Al Rustamani, who received the award on behalf of Abdulhamid Juma, CEO of Dubai Media City, thanked ITP Business and digitalstudio Magazine for the recognition. In her acceptance speech, she spoke about Dubai Studio City and its role in creating a free-thinking media community that aims to develop into an industry hub.

"We have worked to accelerate media development in various sectors by addressing the key drivers of each sector. DMC has focused on providing a robust infrastructure and dynamic business-friendly environment for media activity to flourish and create value," Dr. Amina said.
Some of the other award winners included business partners of Dubai Media City and Dubai Studio City. One of them was Filmworks, which won the 'Contribution to High Quality Production' award.

The event was sponsored by Hitachi, Sony, HVD and MDS, and attended by several broadcasters, vendors and end users from across the Middle East and North Africa.
