Sony Ericsson announces T290 availability in Middle East markets
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, March 21 - 2005 at 13:11
- PRESS RELEASE
Sony Ericsson's T290 mobile for 'Practical Phone-users' is available in the Middle East from this week.
"The T290 is for customers whose predominant communication style is voice," Husni Al-Assi, General Manager of Sony Ericsson, Middle East and Africa, said today. " The model offers a superb price-performance ratio and user requirements come first: simplicity, a desirable price, all-out design and high quality."
"This model has the same classical, elegant style that flows through all our Sony Ericsson product lines, and appeals to many customers who are looking for quality, simplicity and value-for-money," he continued.
The T290 is just the thing for those who regard their mobile phone primarily as a classic utility item. Reduced to the most essential functions, it is the user-friendliness and easy handling that make the phone so appealing. It takes just two clicks to connect to the person being called. Thanks to the keyboard, which is pared down to a few keys, and the menu navigation system, writing and sending text messages is incredibly simple. The 9-point menu is navigated very easily by means of a central key that can be moved in four directions.
An entry-level mobile, the T290 is rich in features and is particularly practical for those looking for a cost-effective phone to support their private businesses and staff. Independent small business owners will find it an ideal way of keeping in touch with customers whilst on the move. The phone's package includes a 32 tones polyphonic ringer with an additional speaker for loud and clear ring tones that can be heard on the busiest of streets.
With a 4K color screen, the T290 has an additional speakerphone for private or professional conference calls, and fast SMS text messaging with predictive text input on a clear and ergonomically designed keypad. Available in different versions, the T290i has Dual-band 900/1800.
The phone targets customers who predominantly use their mobiles to make calls and use SMS text messaging to communicate extensively. T290's small size, phonebook with a 200 name capacity, MMS messaging in color, and solid styling will make it attractive right across the 'Practical Phone-user' segment, and will also appeal to the younger market. Packaged in a slim, classic design and available in a range of exciting colors, the phone includes an easy to use joystick for simple navigation.
And that's really all you need to know to start using the T290. Those who want to go further, can discover the integrated event calendar which has a reminder function so stored dates will never be forgotten. By means of the speakerphone function the whole family can join in the conversation. The alarm clock makes the T290 a useful personal companion all day long even when it is switched off. The T290 is equipped with an MMS function (image messaging) as well as SMS (text messaging). If someone sends you a photo by MMS, this person together with their picture and phone number can be stored in the picture phonebook. T290 also offers a few, simple, extra multimedia features such as integrated games, polyphonic ring tones and a selection of wallpapers and display colours.
Attractive Accessories
Three high-quality, optional accessories are available to enhance the T290.The sportily designed headset HPS-20 offers handsfree handling of calls while three different, exchangeable style-up covers turn the headset into a fashion accessory.
The HPR-20 stereo FM radio means you can listen to your favourite station, while shopping for example, and still be able to handle calls: just connect and listen to music in top quality sound. As soon as a call comes in, the T290 automatically switches the radio off and makes it possible to handle the call without even having to pick up the phone.
The CarKit HCQ-30 is perfect for drivers as it offers handsfree talking via loudspeaker and microphone, while the phone is charged via the cigarette lighter. It's very easy to install and after two minutes you can phone to your heart's content in the car without clocking up any points on your driving licence.
Last but not least in the range of accessories is the snap-on camera MCA-30 CommuniCam, which turns the T290 into a camera phone in a flash, ready for those snapshots of the next family holiday.
The T290 is available immediately in the attractive colours Smokey Grey (black) and Ice Crystal (white).
