ME, petrochemicals push

The Middle East could become a global centre for the petrochemicals business, according to a report by McKinsey and Company at ArabPlast 2005. Low-cost feedstock and labour, and growing demand in Asia will raise the Mideast's share in the global ethylene market from the current 9 percent, to 17 per cent by 2010, and 40 per cent of all new ethylene capacity will be built in the Middle East.
