British Airways wins 'Best European Airline' at Business Traveller Awards Middle East

British Airways has walked away with top honours at the inaugural 2002 Business Traveller Middle East Awards for 'Best European Airline' serving the Middle East region.

Hundreds of entries were received with British Airways receiving 50% of the votes in their assigned category.

The Earl of Lichfield - renowned international photographer and member of the British Royal Family, was the guest of honour at the glittering awards ceremony that took place at the prestigious Burj Al Arab Hotel.

Accepting the award for "Best European Airline" serving the Middle East, Steve Allen, British Airways Area Manager for Southern Gulf, Central Asia and Levant said: "We are absolutely delighted to be recognised as "Best European Airline" in a region that is very important to British Airways.

"We have won this award on the strength of our excellent existing products, schedule and people. Furthermore we are delighted to announce that we have just introduced a host of new products on our Dubai-London and Kuwait-London daily services which include a fully flat bed for our Business Class travellers giving them a "Lounge in the Sky" environment in which to relax, work or sleep. We have also introduced a premier economy class cabin aimed at our discerning leisure passenger and cost-conscious business passenger who want more space, privacy and comfort."

The 2002 Business Traveller Middle East Awards, held to coincide with the Arabian Travel Market 2002, was based on a survey conducted by the magazine among business travellers in the Middle East. The survey was audited by Opinion Research Corporation in the UK to ensure transparency and validity and was the first time such a survey for Business Traveller Magazine has taken place in the Middle East.
