Mohammad al Murr, Head of Dubai Cultural Office and Mahmoud Al Bastaki, E-services director at the Dubai e-government; participated in the inauguration ceremony and gave the signal of starting the first women IT training centre in the U.A.E. The opening ceremony was also attended by Rehab Lootah, e-services Provisioning Manager at the Dubai e-government, Yusra Abdul Gaffar, Senior Officer, Ladies Banking at Dubai Commercial Bank. This presence represented a significant support to the activities launched by Dubai Women Association in cooperation with International Learning Solutions, which aimed at the development of the Arab women IT skills in the UAE. The e-government presence came also as a to the e-women slogan launched by ILS.

"This training Centre came as a response to the need of the U.A.E. women to keep pace with the great progress in the IT sector and it reflects the necessity of her contribution in this progress," said Nagwa Diab in her comment on this distinguished event. " The centre will contribute in upgrading women's skills and providing them with the needed methodologies to keep up with the constant challenge that the IT and business world is facing, added Diab. She concluded explaining that researches and studies have indicated the significance of technical awareness and its impact on society in dealing with technology tools. This is clearly evident in upgrading the educational level of the family, save time and resources, increase social communication and overcome social, geographic and cultural barriers. The technology revolution in the communication and IT fields affects the individual's education, upbringing and training.

"Women must be very keen on keeping pace with the international progress and the ever increasing progress in IT. We, with our efforts and continuous support, will help the Arab woman progress and develop," explained Khawla Saeed Al Nabooda. "Since we are starting a new era, empowered by knowledge, communication and information technology, we can not stand still, watching the great progress that is taking place in this renovating world. We have to take part of this modern world in order to participate positively in making our future," she added.

"Mahmoud Al Bastaki, of Dubai e-government explained that such achievement could not be done with governmental efforts only; "we need every effort from the private sector, which possess great potentials in contributing to Dubai electronic experience. Let me extends my great thanks to ILS for their efforts in developing programs related to building the needed workforce."

Rihab Lootah gave a presentation explaining all the services provided by the e-government and the support given to the e-woman program launched by ILS under the patronage of Dubai Woman Association. "Dubai e-government sought to release woman's potentials and enhance her contribution in the social, economic and political life", She said. "Women have a great role and we wish to enhance this role, and we are now working on this together. This important step reflects the concern of Dubai Women Association in upgrading women's experiences in Dubai and U.A.E.; a step that we wish to be followed by other steps in future."

« The world today depends on knowledge; its progress is based on sciences and its tools and techniques. The importance of IT and communication technology in improving women's life can not be equalized by other educational certificates, which very often make women unable to conquer the market strongly due to her inability to cope with modern changes in today's life. As a result they are not competent and their workforce is reduced in different technology sectors. The training centre at the DWA, which already started its activity, will provide intensive and updated programs; our company will offer all its technical expertise in order to help the centre in implementing its tasks successfully," said Moustafa Kadous, CEO of ILS.

Believing in the importance of enhancing the woman's role in the society and her participation in different economic and commercial activities, Yusra Abdul Gaffar said that Dubai Commercial Bank has been trying to meet all women's banking needs. DCB took the lead in establishing separate section for women, which provides the Arab woman with the needed privacy in all her banking transactions. "Moreover, we designed Shahrzad program in which we were keen to include all the features that any modern lady might require."

Nagwa Dyab pointed to the report of the World Labor Organization, which referred to the gap existing between genders. "We have to reconsider the use of the Internet as women constitute to the lowest category in Internet usage in developed and developing countries alike. She highlighted that the information included in the report, which reflects the low participation of women in the region, and which does not exceed 4% compared to 25% in Latin America and Europe, 19% in Russia and 18% in Japan.

" The Centre will offer reduced prices to ladies in general whether they are member or non-members of the Association. It will provide its services to businesswomen in Dubai. It will provide all the needed help in order to guide women who are interested in enhancing their technical level, which will maximize their benefits from these programs," added Nagwa Diab regarding registration in the Centre.
