- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, March 26 - 2005 at 11:59
- PRESS RELEASE
Globalisation of the retail sector will be the focus of a presentation by one of the well-known international experts at a conference at Expo Centre Sharjah on April 18.
Dr Hallier is the managing director of the European Retail Institute (EHI) and chairman of the Advisory Council of EuroShop, the global retail trade show in Germany.
The EHI is an international network for research and education within the retail industry and the founder and co-organiser of world's number one retail trade fair, EuroShop.
"Innovation in wholesale/retail will come and go in cycles. The next 25 years will see the globalisation of top players, online deals, retail techniques and leading fairs," said Dr Hallier.
"However, segmentation will remain in demand as consumers get more and more individualistic and expect broad choices ranging from discounts to luxury," he added.
Other speakers at the conference include Richard K. 'Dick' Blatt, President and CEO, POPAI (Point of Purchase Advertising International); MAG. Christoph Haibock, Storebranding Consultant for Umdasch Shop Concept, leading international shop fitting company; Rogier van der Heide IALD, Associate Director, Arup Lighting, the lighting design section with global design and engineering group Arup; Simon Thomson, Principal, Retail International, independent UK-based retail consultancy; Avijit Yadav, Vice-President of Bates Pan Gulf; and Rehan Merchant, Executive Director of Emirates Neon Group.
They will discuss key issues and latest developments relating to the retail trade alongside the Retail Middle East show.
Retail Middle East is the first dedicated retail trade event in the region and will be held at Expo Centre Sharjah from April 18 to 20.
The three-day event will feature everything related to the retail industry
including retail concepts, shop fitting and store equipment, visual merchandising, signages, POP, store design, retail technology & equipment, logistics and security systems.
