Batelco gives graduates a step up the ladder

Batelco is giving University of Bahrain students the chance to find out more about a career in telecommunications - as well as get a clearer picture of the overall job market - by sponsoring the University's Career's Day event, which is taking place over the next three days (March 27 - 29).

"This is the second year running that Batelco has been the main sponsor of 'Career's Day' at the University of Bahrain," explains Ahmed Al Janahi, Head of Corporate Affairs at Batelco. "The event is very popular with students - especially those in their final year - and it gives us the chance to meet students who may be interested in a career in telecommunications.

"Facing the job market upon completion of a degree can be an uncertain and difficult time for graduates," continues Ahmed. "Career's Day is designed to provide information, advice and the chance to meet with prospective employers face-to-face."

Last year, Batelco recruited a number of graduates 'on the spot' during the Career's Day job fair and the company is urging this year's students to visit the Batelco stand - either to drop off their cv's or just to have an informal chat.

"The telecommunications industry is vibrant and exciting - especially now with so much happening in our market," explains Sh. Ahmed Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, General Manager Human Resources at Batelco. "A career with Batelco offers many opportunities for graduates - including our highly-praised graduate training programme."

The event - which is being held at the University of Bahrain's Sakhir Campus in Hall S-18 - is expected to draw a crowd of some 2000 students over the three days. Thirty-seven companies will be represented at the event, giving students the opportunity to learn about a wide range of different industries and fields.

Sponsorship of the University of Bahrain's Career's Day forms part of Batelco's commitment to supporting the youth of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Last year alone, Batelco donated more than BD5 million in support for a wide range of education, health, youth and sports projects throughout the country - all designed to help those who need it most and to improve the lives of the people of Bahrain.
