The 5,000 square meter building, at a cost of some ten million dirhams, will include a wing for the Center of Applied Studies in Education, (CASE), which houses all academic programs in education and teacher training as well as the offices of the UNESCO Chair Program in Education. A second wing will include the laboratories of the newly established engineering programs for women in electronics and biomedical engineering, and connecting the two wings will be 24 smart classrooms with wireless access to the internet and the college network. The building will also include a 60-seat multimedia theatre, which has been designed to allow for conversion to a teaching planetarium in the future.
In making this announcement, Dr. Farid Ohan, Director of the Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology stated: 'We are very grateful to his Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, whose great generosity has made it possible for us to provide our students with a learning environment that is second to none in the country. His continued financial and moral support inspires our students to achieve their professional goals while upholding the highest Arab and Islamic values. We, students and staff alike, are indeed very fortunate to be part of Sharjah's University City.'
Sharjah Women's College is one of twelve Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) that operate throughout the country under the Ministry of Education. His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan is the Founder and Chancellor of the HCT, an educational system that has become a model to emulate throughout the region.
Sultan approves construction of new academic building at SWC
Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology announced today that construction of a new academic building would commence in the next few days on its Sharjah Women's College (SWC) campus.
