The promoters, DotCom Real Estate have committed more than AED 500 million to ensure that it stands among the best in the world.

'Education will be the key theme of the Astrolab Resort. It will be the region's first comprehensive environment-based entertainment project that will be devoted to education themes aimed at enhancing the knowledge of visitors. The themes will highlight the Golden Age of Islam and will educate people about leading Muslim scholars and scientists who have made immeasurable contributions to mankind's development over the centuries,' said Salem bin Dasmal, Chief Executive Officer of Dubailand.

And to make learning a fun-filled experience, Astrolab Resort will provide for technologically advanced games and activities for children and adults. These will be especially adapted and developed to suit the theme of the project as well as to provide a unique experience to players. The promoters promise entertainment experiences such as Virtual Reality Time Travel that will be developed in accordance with the highest standards prevailing in the entertainment industry. The systems that will operate the games would compare with the best in any leading parks around the world.

The resort will be one of the first new projects to open at the facility and will premiere along with the first operational phase of Dubailand in June 2007. Astrolab Resort will also include five-star luxury hotel, upmarket furnished apartments, and retail shops and restaurants, among other facilities, said the Dubailand CEO adding that Astrolab Resort will extend over 1.4 million square feet of land.

Shedding light on the massive project, Abdullah Al Shamsi, General Manager and partner at DotCom Real Estate, an independent holding company, said that DotCom Real Estate has completed the purchase of the company's first plot in Dubailand.

'The Astrolab project would be anchored by world-class, family-oriented entertainment attractions developed specifically for the resort by the world's leading specialist agencies,' said Al Shamsi. Theme park veterans at Contour Entertainment Inc. of Los Angeles - which was one of the participants that designed the Wild Wadi Park in Dubai and the Sony Museum in Berlin - have been retained by us to design the unique aspects and facilities at Astrolab. BAR Architects from San Francisco will support Contour Entertainment, while Economics Research Associates London office is conducting the financial study for the project,' he explained.

'We have gathered together a world class team to execute what we believe will be a star attraction of Dubailand. We are committed to providing the best to those who will visit us and use our facilities,' Al Shamsi added.
