Chevrolet presents 2005 Tahoe to Emirates Diving Association
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, March 28 - 2005 at 13:06
- PRESS RELEASE
As the official transportation sponsor of the Emirates Diving Association (EDA), Chevrolet has underlined its continuing commitment to the environment by presenting the group with a brand new 2005 model Chevrolet Tahoe.
A delighted Essa Al Ghurair, Vice President of the EDA, said: "It's a pleasure to drive the Tahoe, which has been described as the most dependable large sport utility vehicle on the road today.
"Our people did a study of possible vehicles, to see which would stand up to our rigorous demands: of five possible brands, Chevrolet was the winner. After all, if the Dubai Police Rescue Department is happy with the capability, safety and comfort of the Tahoe, then we certainly are - what more proof do we need?"
The Chevy Tahoe will be mainly used for the EDA's day-to-day work load, including staff transportation (it seats eight adults with comfort), loading and unloading of scuba diving equipment, (it has an incredible payload of 758kg), and driving to the East Coast of the UAE for dive site surveying.
"As the official vehicle of the EDA, the Tahoe exudes style, safety, comfort, performance and an aggressive appearance," Ibrahim N. Al-Zu'bi, Environment Department Director of the EDA.
The Chevrolet Tahoe is powered by the legendary Vortec 5300 V8 engine that delivers 324 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque, giving confidence behind the wheel.
Jim Cnossen, Marketing Director of General Motors, said: "The Tahoe is designed to deliver a smooth and quiet ride over a variety of terrain - its interior makes even the most rugged rides safe and enjoyable. The EDA's choice of Chevrolet as Official Transportation Sponsor is testament to the rugged reliability of the vehicle. We look forward to working together with the EDA in all of its ventures."
Last year staff from GM helped the EDA capture, tag and release a rare Loggerhead turtle into the wild, during a visit to the Natural Resources Research Centre in Ras Al-Khaimah. "GM has a rich history in the Middle East, having had a presence here for more than six decades. With such a pedigree, it's no surprise that a leading institution such as the EDA chose a vehicle from the GM range," added Cnossen.
