More than 50 representatives of companies associated with the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders (SMEs) attended the seminar which was organised by Emirates' Procurement & Logistics department at the Emirates Aviation College.

In an unusual move, Emirates took the initiative of advising the entreprenuers on its best practices for procurement, enabling them to identify the Emirates Group's criteria for a more speedy and efficient purchasing process.

SME members had previously approached private companies themselves to outline their plans for the future and explain how they could join with them in participating in the flourishing business community in Dubai.

In his presentation at the seminar, Adil Al Mulla, Emirates' Manager Procurement & Logistics, highlighted the quality, standards, and purchasing capability of the Emirates Group.

Mr Al Mulla said: "Emirates decided to be pro-active and hold this seminar for the members of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders (SMEs) to give them a clear understanding of our procurement procedures, enabling them to interact smoothly with the company.

"Judging from their positive feedback from the seminar, we are delighted to say that our move was appreciated, and we hope to hold more seminars of this nature for other business groups within Dubai."

A number of Procurement staff members held a question and answer session afterwards to help new companies registering with the SME to gain an understanding of the department's processes and operations.
