Medical fraternity's biggest challenges to be discussed at the Second Middle East Conference on Healthcare Informatics

Some of the biggest challenges facing the medical fraternity and IT-enabled healthcare will be discussed in detail by internationally renowned speakers at the Second Middle East Conference on Healthcare Informatics 'MECHCI 2005' that will be held under the patronage of His Excellency, Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Education and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University at Dubai Knowledge Village from April 9-10.
Some of the key issues that are scheduled to be discussed are 'Major Health IT Systems: Procurement processes, challenges and lesson', 'Systems and Medical Imaging', Systems in the healthcare workplace: functionality, sharing of knowledge and workflow', 'Socio-Technical Systems: Four rules for the reinvention of healthcare', Challenges in the community', 'Healthcare Informatics: Socio Technical perspectives' and 'The Way Ahead: recommendations for healthcare practice, research, education and training'.
His Excellency Dr. Hadef Bin Jouaan Al-Dhahiri, Vice Chancellor of UAE University said: "The event will be a confluence of Health and IT experts who will work in tandem and develop a resource base of the best practices. The conference will also witness delegates table recommendations that effectively addresses the issue of optimal integration of state-of-the-art information technology into healthcare."
The opening day of the conference will see speakers sharing their experience and expertise in successfully implementing and adopting highly advanced technology in healthcare. The speakers on the second day will make detailed analyses on the socio-technical outcomes in the evolution of healthcare informatics.
Prominent speakers from the Arab World, Europe and North America, who have been put together for this conference, will provide a unique opportunity for internationally renowned medical experts to brainstorm and explore the role of informatics in healthcare and develop strategies for the implementation of best practices.
