Public sector organisations briefed about staging of desert fiesta

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and the Zayed International Prize for the Environment convened a meeting at the department's headquarters in Dubai to brief senior officials from Dubai's public sector about the staging of the Second Festival of The Cultures & Civilizations of World Deserts.
The desert festival is being organised under the patronage of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE Minister of Defence and Chairman of the DTCM.
"As with most major festivals in Dubai, the public sector is working together as a team to ensure the successful staging of the event and this meeting was organised to facilitate an exchange of ideas and information as well to outline the areas of responsibility for each organisation," Mr. bin Sulayem said.
Prominent among the government departments that attended the meeting included Dubai Municipality, Department of Naturalisation and Residency Administration, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority, Department of Civil Aviation, Emirates airline, Department of Health and Medical Services and Ports Customs and Free Zone Corporation.
The World Deserts Foundation, DTCM and Zayed Prize have joined hands to organise the event.
A full program of workshops, seminars and conferences conducted over a week-long period will enable visitors and attendees to know more about desert life.
"Delegations from various countries led by Ministers are scheduled to participate at this desert fiesta and even the Honorable President of Algeria & Patron of the World Deserts Foundation, Abdelaziz Bouteflika and other heads of state and members of the UAE Supreme Council will attend," said Dr. bin Fahad.
"We have confirmations from delegates of many countries with wide spread participation from countries such as Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Jordan, Egypt, South Africa, Morocco, Oman, Sudan, Lebanon, Nigeria, India, Libya, Pakistan and China among others," Dr. bin Fahad remarked.
Mr. bin Fahad added that the desert fete would offer visitors a chance to see the splendid scenes and extraordinary cultures that make the world's deserts so exceptional and distinct.
The Second Festival of Cultures & Civilizations of World Deserts will provide an invaluable opportunity for the people of desert regions to meet, exchange and celebrate their rich traditions and showcase them to the world.
