  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, April 03 - 2005 at 08:09
  • PRESS RELEASE

The Department of Economic Development (DED) organized a two-day specialized workshop for applicant companies that have registered for the 2005 cycle of the Dubai Quality Award.

More than 25 companies attended the workshop, which focused on conducting self-assessments and dealing with the logistics of preparing an award submission document.

"The Department of Economic Development (DED) aims to move the Dubai Quality Award to the next level by systematizing and streamlining the process of applying for the award," said Mr. Essa Kazim, Coordinator General, DQA. "We plan to work closely with the DQA applicants this year in order to ensure that they have a more comprehensive understanding of the DQA Excellence model and can maximise the benefit from the award process," he added.

"The strength of the Dubai Quality Award lies in the process and applicant organisations need to focus more on the long-term benefits of the award," said Dr. Lway Nackasha, Adviser Quality and Business Excellence, DED. "These specialized workshops will enable applicant companies to assess their current status against the DQA Excellence model and will facilitate them in planning the way forward," he added.

This is the second round of such workshops being organized by the Department in order to guide DQA applicants through the award process.

The workshop was specially designed for management representatives, authorized by the senior management of the company to lead the DQA project teams at applicant companies. The representatives will also be responsible for collecting and compiling information required for preparing the submission document.
