First female joins DHL Saudi Arabia as Physical Channels Manager

DHL, the Middle East's leading logistics solutions provider, announced the appointment of Ghada Al Edreesy - the first Saudi woman to join DHL Saudi Arabia as the Physical Channels Manager.

The appointment comes as part of DHL's continuous efforts to support the Kingdom's Saudisation initiative, which is focused on incorporating more nationals into the private sector's workforce.

Having commenced her duties since the beginning of January 2005, Ghada Al Edreesy's role as Physical Channels Manager is to supervise, monitor and maintain the high quality of service that DHL provides to over 70 towns and cities throughout 52 physical channels in the Kingdom.

Announcing the new appointment, David Wilson, General Manager, DHL Saudi Arabia said: "I would like to welcome Ghada Al Edreesy as the first Saudi female Physical Channels Manager and actually the first woman to join our team in the Kingdom. This appointment is due to the multiple accomplishments that she has achieved prior to joining our family and I am confident that this step will pave the way for many qualified Saudi female individuals to work professionally".

With an excellent track record in her professional career as well as a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Ghada Al Edreesy's vast experience in Saudi Arabia in various fields of travel, tourism and marketing makes her an ideal candidate for the position. In addition, Ghada was employed at Saudi Aramco where she participated in many national and international economic forums.

He added: "As part our drive to incorporate talented Saudi nationals to be part of our growing DHL team we will continue to recruit, train and develop skilled Saudi males and females throughout our ongoing programs; we believe that it is our responsibility to help towards the future development of the region and its people."

Referring to the significant role played by Saudi women in improving the Saudi labor market in accordance with the highest benchmarks and standards thereof, Mrs. Al Edreesy said "Saudi females have the ambition and willingness to interact with Saudi society, prove, and play a key role in order to open the door of opportunities for every female in the Kingdom."

She added: "I look forward to the challenges that will come along with my new position and would try to set an example to encourage more Saudi women to play an integral role in both public and private sector in the Kingdom and to reach managerial positions as we have lot to offer."
