- United Arab Emirates: Monday, April 04 - 2005 at 13:41
- PRESS RELEASE
The 4 day 17th GETEX (Gulf Education & Training Exhibition), which opens its doors on Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Dubai International Exhibition Centre, has assembled more than 400 higher education providers from 35 countries across the world.
"GETEX has grown in size and scope each year, attracting newer countries, covering wider subjects and presenting novel dimensions to the education scenario in the Gulf region. Today, the focus of education has also widened, with a thrust on quality and an underlying emphasis to create a positive difference through education. This edition of GETEX will serve as an ideal platform for academicians and professionals to discuss various aspects of education and training in an evolving society," said Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, IC&E, organisers of GETEX.
Another significant feature is the extensive presence of higher education providers from the UAE and other Middle Eastern countries; providing strong indication of the growing stature of the education industry in the region. Among the big names out in force in this segment are the Dubai-based Knowledge Village; the Qatar Aeronautical College and the Qatar Foundation For Education, Science & Community Development; the Bahrain based Royal College of Surgeons (a campus of the famous Irish medical college of the same name); as well as a strong Omani, Turkish, Jordanian and Iranian presence. For the first time, GETEX will also host a university from Tunisia.
In the GETEX spotlight will be undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Medicine; Business Studies; Engineering; eLearning; and Media & Creative Arts. In the process of choosing the course most suited to their requirements, the students will be supported by the presence of Counsellors in the fields of Academics, Life Choices and Careers. Meanwhile, visitors will have access to a minefield of information on practical admissions related issues, such as the New SAT, TOEFL, GMAT strategies and writing PhD Proposals.
In the training segment of the show, besides exhibitors providing short and long term professional courses, of interest to visitors, especially Management and HR professionals, will be seminars including topics such as Enhancing People Development Skills In The Supply-Chain Management; Performance Measurement: The Critical Issues To Get It To Work; and How Management Can Contribute To The Overall Company Strategy.
The 17th GETEX has attracted a wide range of partners keen to make a contribution to the growing education industry in the Middle East. The show is being organised under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Education. It is supported by the British Council and Dubai Knowledge Village. As media partners, Campus Journal, AME Info and Bayt.com are relaying the message about the importance of seeking quality higher education.
Clarendon Parker, The Change Associates and Educational Consultancy Services make up the team of counsellors available to students under the "Planning Higher Education vis-à-vis Career Objectives" initiative. British Institute of Learning Development will lead the drive to improve awareness about learning difficulties, as well as provide parental and academic strategies that can support a child with such difficulties.
The 17th GETEX will be open to visitors from April 5 to 8. Entrance to the exhibition and to the seminars is free; as is consultation with available counsellors.
