Drake & Scull International awarded USD 30 million contract to build Jordan Paediatric Hospital

World-renowned mechanical and electrical engineering contractors, Drake & Scull International has won a contract to build the new paediatric hospital and emergency department at King Hussein Medical Centre in Amman.
The scope of work includes construction of the five-storey hospital and emergency department with 200 patient beds, 20 physician offices, with 40 examination and specialty rooms, built over 27,000 square metres. Construction work on the hospital project is already underway and will be completed by January 2007.

Lebanon's Dar Al Handasah (Shair & Partners) and its US affiliate Perkins & Will are the consultants for the project.
This is the second major project that Drake & Scull will be undertaking in Jordan. Previously, Drake & Scull had provided mechanical and electrical installations to a new 400-bed hospital complex built during Phase 1 of the Hussein Medical Centre in Amman.
Drake & Scull International now offers design and procurement services which enables it to provide both traditional MEP Services and implement projects on a Design, Build and Operate basis.
This extends to providing complete solutions through Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) & design, build, maintenance and operations of District Cooling Plants throughout the Middle East. Current projects include the 60,000 tonne chilled water and distribution system for 54 Tower blocks at Jumeirah Beach Residences and the 50,000 tonne plant for the multi-use Dubai Festival City project in Dubai.
Other major contracts awarded to Drake & Scull International, in the Middle East include provision of mechanical and electrical engineering services to Dubai Internet City and Zayed University at Ruwayyah, Dubai, Rashid Hospital - Accident, Emergency & Trauma Centre, Dubai, the Grand Mosque built by His Majesty, Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman, Smart Village in Egypt, the Intercontinental Hotel in Riyadh, and the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha.
