U.S. Robotics brings next generation wireless technologies to GITEX Saudi Arabia

At the show, to be held from April 24 to 28, 2005 in Riyadh, the world's leading provider of Internet access and connectivity products is partnering with Jarir Bookstore, the leading IT Superstore in KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), to showcase its 125mbps Turbo Wireless Networking suite to Saudi users and channel.

The 125 mbps enabled, U.S. Robotics' 802.11g Wireless Turbo products provide accelerated speeds, better security and broader compatibility than standard 802.11g products. The line's versatility and simplicity makes it easy to set up a wireless network with, or without, an existing wired network and without expensive infrastructure costs. The newest addition to the portfolio, the USR 5450, professional-grade Wireless Turbo Multi-Function Access Point, has the power, features and flexibility to be the foundation of a wireless business network with shared Internet connectivity; extending the U.S. Robotics portfolio to cover the consumer, small enterprise and large enterprise markets.

Besides the 125 mbps Turbo Wireless Networking suite, in the ADSL space, the U.S. Robotics portfolio will be led by the award-winning, all-in-one USR 9106, the Sureconnect Wireless ADSL Gateway. USR 9106, featuring an integrated 4-port Ethernet Router with built in ADSL interface and a wireless gateway to multiple networks, is the premium product in its category in terms of speed, security and reliable connectivity. The high-speed wireless connectivity supports routing, bridging, Virtual Private Networks and remote management features.

For wired networks, U.S. Robotics will showcase its advanced gigabit Ethernet portfolio. Targeted at the large enterprise networks, the product line includes the 24-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch (Model: USR 7931); the 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch (Model: USR 7930); and the Gigabit Ethernet PCI Card (Model: 7902).

Where the traditional Ethernet cannot cope with the sheer volume of transactions, as well as the increasingly large size of files in more complex networks, network breakdowns occur. Gigabit Ethernet provides the bandwidth for faster network fulfilment of client requests; the network becomes more efficient because client requests close faster, freeing server and network resources sooner.
