- PRESS RELEASE
Planters, the largest interior landscaping company in the Middle East, has recently completed the landscaping for the recently opened Emaar Marina Fitness Centre - Angsana Spa & Health Club which consists of a state-of-the-art-gym and exotic spa retreat for both men and women.
The project was managed by landscape designers Al Khatib Cracknell, who have been involved in a large number of projects in the U.A.E. ranging from luxury resorts, business parks and commercial developments to high- end residential estates and leisure developments. When asked what was the idea behind the planting concept for the centre, Colleen D'souza, Senior Horticulturist for Al Khatib Cracknell stated, "the planting concept for the reception area was treated differently from the spa and jacuzzi area. The reception area receives a lot of light from the vertical glazing so the concept and the plant palette reflect a flamboyant scheme. In contrast, the spa rooms receive very little natural light, dependening mainly on ambient lighting to create a calm soothing ambience. Plants with bold colour and form in association with rock boulders and gravel dominate the reception area, while planting in the spa rooms is predominately cool, green and lush enhancing the relaxing and rejuvenating atmosphere."
D'souza continued to say, "To reflect the mood of fitness, we associated the entry area with strong colours, bold architectural plants and mixed hard and soft materials. To reflect relaxation and rejuvenation within the spa we chose soothing green colours and soft plant forms."
The centre was planted with flowering plants all flown in from Holland for the occasion including sun loving plants like Aechmea fasciata, Neoregelia carolinae and groundcovers like Callisia to complement the stylish and tasteful interior decor of the area. These plants are set off against boulders and gravel for maximum effect. In contrast, the spa rooms are planted with low light tropical species, including Aglaonema and Aspidistra to create a lush soothing and cool atmosphere.
Interior landscaping has become an important feature when it comes to creating a positive impression and an environment that looks aesthetically pleasing. D'souza stated "A well designed interior space is enhanced considerably with the addition of plants, especially since plants keeps you in touch with nature, reflecting beauty and changing seasons. In addition indoor plants are great air purifiers, creating a healthier and cleaner environment."
Mr. Pardoe, General Manager of Planters concluded by saying, "Our trained specialist staff will be responsible for the overall maintenance of the interior landscaping in the fitness center in order to ensure that the displays are kept in perfect condition."
