Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Al Qassimi, Chief of the Sharjah Emiri Court, opened the 18th edition of MidEast Watch and Jewellery Show at Expo Centre Sharjah on April 11.

"The increase in the number of participants, exhibition space sold and visitors to the show all indicate that the show is growing in stature with every passing edition," said Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa.
"Local, regional and international jewellers have been quick to take advantage of the show's popularity by introducing their best and latest
collections and designs as well as stretch their wings across the region," he added.
The show, besides having a display of loose pearls, diamonds, precious stones, gold jewellery, diamond and pearl sets, crystals, watches, timepieces, jewellery displays, will also showcase different kinds of tools and equipment used in the trade.
"The exhibition has become one of the most sought-after platforms for international jewellers for establishing a base in the Middle East region," said Mr Mohammed Salem Al Mosharrekh.
Hong Kong with 60 companies and India with 26 will have their biggest number of pavilions ever at the show.
A major participant from Hong Kong, Classic Jewelry Co is famed for jewellery which is made of 14k/18k gold and 925 sterling silver with
diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones and opals. It also produces jewellery on clients' requests.
Farha's from India focuses on antique jewellery in silver and gold with diamond, precious and semi-precious stones. Designed by Farhana Vohra, the collections are inspired from the bygone era - the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Other exhibiting countries include Bahrain, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Colombia and the UAE.
"Reinforcing its reputation as the region's premier biannual exhibition, the event is introducing new products, trends and two new pavilions from Russia and Italy," said Mr Fasahat Ali Khan.
While the Russian jewellers will be exhibiting in the UAE for the first time, the Italian firms are making their debut in Sharjah.
Promoting Russian jewellery in all its glitz and glamour, Emiros Jewellers LLC will showcase products from leading Russian manufacturers and take individual orders. Manual production methods which reflect the modern as well as the traditional styles will ensure the exclusivity of the product.
Malaysia will be represented by two exhibitors, one of whom specialises in hand-made jewellery for royal families. Permata Shahyan, one of the
Malaysian companies exhibiting, will display the latest collections of its owner and designer Shahariah Sabarudin.
"With the demand for gold and diamond jewellery rising at a steady pace in the region, particularly in the UAE, exhibitors can look forward to doing brisk business," he added.
A major highlight of the event will be a daily raffle draw which offers 10 gold bars in its five-day run. The daily raffle draws will be held at 10pm. Two additional draws will be held exclusively for ladies on 13th and 14th April
which will take place at 4pm on the two days.
Apart from this, the Hong Kong pavilion will have a promotion which offers a scratch and win competition. The prizes include earrings, mobile phones, necklace and other gift items.
While the general visiting hours are from 4pm to 10pm from April 11 to 15, only ladies will be allowed on April 13 and 14 from 10am to 4pm.
