DCCI hosts the second meeting of the Corporate Directors Leadership Forum
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, April 11 - 2005 at 15:59
- PRESS RELEASE
The Corporate Directors Leadership Forum (CDLF), launched by the Dubai Ethics Resource Center (DERC) in December 2004, held its second meeting yesterday at the Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
The Forum is a program designed to bring together a group of leading corporate directors from Gulf businesses to jointly identify key corporate governance challenges and develop strategies and tools to confront them. The program will lay the ground for establishing a formal Gulf institute of directors that will offer board development and advocacy services to its members. It is chaired by Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, Director General of the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC).
The Center's Executive and Advisory Committees met in a joint session immediately following yesterday's CDLF meeting. Advisory Committee members include representatives of local and international organizations that support the Center's mission and programs. These include the Dubai Financial Market, the Dubai International Financial Center, the Dubai Institute of Human Resource Development, the Dubai Development and Investment Authority, the Washington based Ethics Resource Center and the International Business Leaders forum in London. The joint meeting reviewed the Center's activities and laid plans for organizing an international conference on corporate responsibility in Dubai in February, 2006.
Established by DCCI late last year, the DERC offers educational, training and consulting services in the areas of corporate governance, business ethics and public governance. The Center has partnered with a number of local colleges and universities to develop a shared online ethics resource center and to prepare soon-to-be-graduated students for ethical leadership in the work place.
