  • PRESS RELEASE

The second fortnight of the joint promotion being conducted by the Department of Economic Development (DED) and Emirates Post proved to be a great success with more than 1190 transactions related to trade licences being routed through the post offices in Dubai.

A total of 569 applications related to business registrations procedures were received during the third and fourth week of the promotion while 622 establishments completed payment transactions to receive their trade licences through the post offices during the same period. This brings to 1239, the total number of applications received through Emirates Post since the promotion began on March 5, 2005. In the same period, 1004 establishments completed payment transactions to collect their trade licences from Emirates Post offices.

The second fortnight of the promotion also saw five more lucky investors winning exciting prizes after routing their business registration processes through Emirates Post. Winners of the first draw conducted two weeks ago, also received their prizes during the second draw held yesterday at the Emirates Post head office in Deira.

"The campaign has been a great success so far and we are pleased to note that more and more investors are routing their business registration procedures through the post offices. We hope to encourage potential and existing investors to continue to use this service and thus enable us to offer greater value-added services to our clients," said Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Deputy Director General, Executive Affairs, DED.

Launched earlier this month, the 11-week campaign seeks to encourage business owners and investors to conduct trade licence registration procedures through the post offices in Dubai.

The names of the five winning organisations were picked through an electronic draw conducted at Emirates Post offices in the presence of officials from the DED. They include Bahakim General Trading Co. LLC with trade licence number 236790 which will receive a Nokia Communicator. Inspired General Trading (LLC) with trade licence number 566939 and Al Rawdah filling Station with trade licence number 510823 will each receive an imate pocket PC while Al Safa Real Estate with trade licence number 506585 and Gulf Falcon Technical Equipment Trading (LLC) with trade licence number 245376 will each receive a laptop.

Commenting on the success of the promotion, Mr. Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General, Emirates Post said: "The DED Emirates Post promotion is a significant example of how different departments can work together to offer value-added services to people. We would like to urge Dubai-based investors to take advantage of this promotion and route their business registration applications through Emirates Post offices."

"This joint promotion by the DED and Emirates Post is excellent and truly highlights the investor friendly services of the DED," said Manoj Kumar Hemchand, MD and Partner, Intermarket Trading, which won a Nokia Communicator last fortnight. "It was really wonderful to know that we have won a prize in the raffle draw," he added.

The campaign is expected to continue until May 31, 2005 with four more raffle draws expected to take place. Dubai-based investors routing applications for processing, amending or canceling trade licences through Emirates Post offices are eligible to win instant prizes and in raffle draws.
