  • PRESS RELEASE

Mercedes-Benz Middle East Quarter One sales rose a massive 36% from 2,762 to 3,766 over the same period in 2004 once again confirming the company's position as the region's leading luxury car manufacturer.

Sales of the C-Class rose 82 per cent to 650 from 357 vehicles helped by the introduction of a sports package which attracted younger buyers. They will be further boosted by the launch of a Sports edition this month.

Sales of the popular M-Class, despite a second generation model arriving in showrooms in July, rose a spectacular 98% while the recently introduced CLS-Class, the world's first four-door coupe, continued to perform above expectations.

The region's most popular luxury sedan, the S-Class, with sales of over 650 units, continued to outsell its nearest segment competitors in its run out year. Meanwhile, the G-Class, the ultimate off-roader, more than doubled its sales.

"Double digit growth in each of the first three months of the year leaves us well on course to hit our 2005 sales target of just under 13,000 vehicles," said Nicholas Speeks, President and CEO, DaimlerChrysler Middle East. "With the new generation M-Class and B-Class family sports tourer arriving in showrooms in July, and a new S-Class that will extend its segment's technology benchmark arriving in the third quarter, I am extremely confident about the rest of the year."
New M-Class is a quantum leap forward with its cultured performance.
