Mattar Al Tayer appointed as Deputy Director General of DM

Al Tayer, who joined the Municipality in 1983 as a trainee engineer, was first promoted as the Assistant Head of Roads Section in 1984, then as Head of Roads Section in 1986 and Director of Roads Department in 1988, a post he held until 1994, before being appointed as the Assistant Director General for Roads and General Projects Affairs.

Al Tayer thanked Sheikh Hamdan for the confidence he placed in him by appointing him as the Deputy Director General of Dubai Municipality. He said: "I am grateful to the rulers for the trust they have in me. I consider the new tasks and responsibilities that would entail this appointment as an honour to me and they would give me an opportunity to serve the country and its people. At the same time, I consider this as a great challenge especially because Dubai Municipality is one of the largest government departments that provide a variety of civic services to the society."
