The Egyptian Tourism Minister, Dr. Ahmed Al Maghrabi confirmed his country's interest in building a strong relations with UAE and benefit from Dubai's experience in tourism & economic fields particularly Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), tourism and maritime projects, during a meeting with Jamal Majed Bin Thaniyah, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Ports Authority (DPA) held in the PCFC's main office at the Emirates Towers.
"Egypt strategic location overlooking the Mediterranean Sea with an expanse coastal area extending to the Libyan borders may help it to play a vital role in the maritime transport. Similarly, the Red Sea area, which forms a tourist attraction point, incorporates great investment opportunities where sea resorts, which do not preclude establishing commercial sea ports, are intensively deployed", he said.
Dr. Al Maghrabi pointed out that Egypt could add over the past 10 years about 80 rooms to the hotel sector and striving to increase this to 150 rooms within the next 10 years. He said," this means that great investment opportunities are found in this sector where further investments can be pumped through super projects similar to the Cities Project being carried out by Dubai Emirate." He added that all creative ideas by interested investors are welcomed especially large areas are available to make such ideas successful.
From other side, Bin Thaniyah welcomed the Egyptian delegation, which comprised, in addition to the Tourism Minister, of his assistant Zuhair Grana, Engineer Mohammed Majdi Qubaisi, Chairman of the Executive Board of the General Organization for Tourism Development and Mahmoud Attalla, Deputy Chairman of the General Organization for Investment & Free Zones.
Bin Thaniyah said: "PCFC strives for making strategic alliances all over the world in general and the Middle East being the most promising with significantly growing economies area in particular", pointing out that Egypt, which is ranked the second in the area from the tourism point of view has realized a specific move following the great prosperity achieved by Dubai in this respect.
Bin Thaniyah regarded that the great success made by Dubai is mainly attributed to the clear-sighted vision of the General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, UAE Minister of Defence who always stands behind all the creative and innovative ideas adopting successful methodology and special philosophy based on launching big projects fitting with each period requirements as once a project is about to finish an other is being launched.
