The seminar will be held on Tuesday, May 3, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Doha Marriott Hotel in the Al Fayrouz Ballroom located at Ras Abou Aboud St., Doha. The seminar will provide important and timely advice for companies seeking to do business with the U.S. Government in the Middle East. It will feature a distinguished group of experts in contracting with the U.S. Government:
• Dr. Khaled M. Masoud, Ph.D, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Transatlantic Programs Center
• Mr. Nicholas A. Sanders, U.S. Government Contracts Practice, PricewaterhouseCoopers
• Mr. Robert H. Koehler, Senior Partner, U.S. Government Contracts Practice Group, Patton Boggs
• Ret. Col. John C. Garrett, Senior U.S. Defense Policy Advisor, Patton Boggs
In 2003, Patton Boggs became the first United States law firm to be licensed to practice law in Qatar. The firm has long-standing client relationships throughout the Middle East and particularly in the Gulf region, all of which draw upon the resources of the Doha office.
Commenting on the importance of the seminar, Susan B. Bastress, Managing Partner in the firm's Doha office, observed 'A diverse panel of private sector and U.S. Government leaders will come together to present their perspectives about doing business with the U.S. Government. This event will also offer attendees the chance to hear from individuals who have been successful in the government contracting procurement process. It is a very timely topic, as the level of U.S. funding for construction and other services in the region is expected to increase dramatically.'
'This is the perfect format for business executives who want to learn essential contracting strategies. The seminar intends to provide answers for those seeking extensive contracting opportunities that are provided by the U.S. Government in its acquisition of supplies and services in the Middle East,' noted Robert Koehler, a partner at Patton Boggs. He added, 'This seminar is the first in a series Patton Boggs will offer on government contracting opportunities as seen from the perspective of both the private sector and the U.S. Government. We plan to hold additional seminars in other Middle Eastern countries throughout 2005.'
