Unique masterpieces of hand carved bones are being exhibited for the first time in the Middle East. Shaped as fishing hooks from antelope or deer horn, the carvings are known as 'Hei Matau' which symbolises good luck, prosperity and strength.
'We feel very honoured that members of the Royal Family not only visited our stand, but bought out our complete stock of the bone carvings. As they wanted more we brought the entire remainder of our stock the next day which they came and collected,' said stallholder Regina Sio. Sio commented that the Exclusive 'Midas Collection' also contains artifacts made on original stone lithographs which are over 200 million years old, and are truly collectors' items.
Al Midas's collection of art and artifacts is very rare and unique as it consists of works of European Masters as well as best of breeds styles of New Zealand art, which Al Midas International has brought for the first time ever into the Middle East market.
Works exhibited include those by world renowned artists such as Gordon Howard, Heathermeg and Dave Sotogi which are truly mesmerising and unite us with nature. The hand made carvings by the internationally acclaimed New Zealand born wood Sculptor Kevin McCardell consist of timeless pieces of fine Ancient Kauri Wood carvings, which have a significant value as they are derived from recovering the Kaori wood from a number of buried prehistoric forests that grew at the 'Dawn of Time' in the Ancient Kaori Kingdom, more than 50,000 years ago.
