Endurance City spruced up for staging desert fiesta

The Dubai International Endurance City is being spruced up to stage the Second Festival of Civlizations and Cultures of World Deserts that begins today (16th April).
Among the special attractions at the desert festival include traditional Bedouin wedding ceremonies folkloric song and dance performances by artistes from the UAE as well as visiting countries and a series of exhibitions displaying traditional handicrafts and desert motifs.
Exhibitions featuring architecture in desert regions, traditional forms of desert medicine, desert literature, folklore and popular arts, dances and poetry will be organised with wide spread participation from 37 countries including Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, South Africa, Morocco, Oman, Sudan, Lebanon, Nigeria, India, Libya, Pakistan and China among others.
The Desert Festival will also feature desert sports, handicrafts, paintings and photography, flora and fauna, calligraphy, desert clothing, pottery and carbon painting competition will also be organised.
The Second Festival of Cultures & Civilizations of World Deserts will provide an invaluable opportunity for the people of desert regions to meet, exchange and celebrate their rich traditions and showcase them to the world.
A series of scientific programmes, conferences, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, real life demonstrations and documentary films are also being organised simultaneously along side the Desert Festival at Dubai Police Officer's Club, Dubai Police Academy and Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
