Nuqul Group opens state-of-the-art paper mill in Egypt

The plant has been established to provide integrated services to Nuqul Group by ensuring availability of quality tissues in the region, developing higher market shares and increasing export volumes, to better serve its clients and markets where the Group already has a strong presence.

Elia Nuqul, Founder and Chairman of Nuqul Group said, "Tissue consumption in the Middle East has grown 25 per cent during the past five years. Although the per capita consumption is low compared to Europe, the potential for growth in the region is huge, as it has a population base of 220 million, which is steadily expanding. Our new plant will help us meet this growing demand in the tissue market."

The Mill produces jumbo reels and is expected to export more than 80 per cent of the output of the new plant to Europe and the MENA region. The converting plant can produce a full range of premium quality tissue products - facial and pocket tissue (full-size and minis), bathroom tissue, kitchen towel, napkins and industrial rolls. It also has embossing capabilities for kitchen towel and bathroom tissues. The plant was designed using the most advanced technology, complying with international environmental and health standards.

The state-of-the-art paper machine has generated a lot of interest in the industry, as it features the first "Shoe Press" in the region, with an operating speed of 2,000 meters/minute. The machine's width is 5.4 meters, with a rated capacity of 54,000 tonnes of tissue per year - boosting the Group's annual capacity up to 102,000 tonnes - in a basis weight range of 12-30 grams per square meter.

With the inauguration of the new mill, Nuqul Group's reputation as one of the largest producers and exporters of high quality hygienic tissue paper in the Middle East will be solidified. Al Sindian is located at 6th of October City, in close proximity to Al Bardi Paper Mill - FINE Egypt's site.
