- PRESS RELEASE
The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) is attracting Arab travellers this summer with the offer of cool breezes, 5-star hotels, luxurious spas, beautiful scenery, a wealth of cultural, art and musical events, while the Kingdom showcases a rich backdrop of historical sights and summer festivals and events.
"We offer a host of undiscovered options to Arab holidaymakers with varied interests, including a wealth of incentives from diverse shopping, excellent hotel accommodations, luxurious spas to adventure activities, dramatic and romantic scenery of rolling green hills and remote desert canyons plus of course our warm hospitality," continued Homoud. "We have found that our visitors are seeking quite diverse past times. We are catering for the needs of those who come for excellent food, warm company and relaxation by passing the time leisurely in street cafes and restaurants. Whilst on the other hand we are also accommodating the young at heart who want the alternative activities of Wadi bashing, hot air ballooning or water sports such as jet skiing, windsurfing and fishing."
Jordan today offers five star accommodation at all key points of the tourism spectrum in Amman, Dead Sea, Petra and Aqaba. As JTB starts to cement in its long term strategic objectives of widening Jordan's attraction as a value-added tourism location, the Kingdom is already offering a wide range of activities from adventure holidays in the spectacular wildness of Wadi Rum, ecology trips into the Northern and Southern nature reserves, and scuba diving in the crystal clear water of Aqaba's Red Sea.
Summer sees numerous events and projects coming to the fore. For the young at heart, Jordan has created a hi-tech water park as well as a number of summer camps. Global Village with pavilions from around the world will be presenting a multitude of performers from around the world providing entertainment for the whole family. During the evenings Jerash Festival (end July) this year will be the stage for an extensive round of song and dance by both Arabic and International performers.
As the Summer moves on to September, Souk Ukaz takes over the scene in Jerash to create an international scene of 'Fashion Fusion beneath an oriental sky' - an extravaganza featuring renowned international designers. A fully choreographed fashion show will focus on trans-oriental designs with dancers and an explosion of colours bringing the full scene to life.
"There's never been a better time to visit Jordan. It is the diversity as a tourism destination that makes Jordan a unique and unforgettable experience. Renowned five star luxury hotels, competitive prices, a string of fantastic sights, natural attractions and beautiful weather, set Jordan apart from other destinations. Certainly Jordan offers the ideal comprehensive holiday package for families in the Gulf," added Homoud.

Tourism continues to play a vital role in Jordan's economy; therefore developing the attractiveness of the Kingdom as a tourism destination remains an indisputable priority for Jordan. Its economic potential outranks virtually any other industry as increasingly Jordan is recognized as a natural holiday destination meeting a wide range of tastes.
Today Jordan offers an extensive range of activities from trips through the past in its very rich cultural heritage and religious sector into the growing market for eco-tourism and scientific, academic, volunteer and educational activities. As the Kingdom's coastal areas in Aqaba are undergoing mass development greater emphasis is now being placed on its water sports and cruising activities.
In reality Jordan is a very safe, friendly country with an absolute wealth in tourism and holiday opportunities. To realize the enormous potential that tourism can bring to Jordan business and policy leaders are working hand-in-hand to develop the industry. The strategy gives an integrated approach involving government facilitation, investment, and private-public partnership. JTB has mapped out a plan that moves the organization past old obstacles to approach the new era of holiday making and niche activities.
The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) was officially launched in March 1998 as an independent public-private sector partnership. The JTB is committed to brand, position and promote Jordan as an international destination of choice - whether for leisure, business or MICE travel.
With a 13-member Board of Directors, the JTB is headed by the Ministry of Tourism and also includes nine private sector members representing hotels, inbound tour operators and tourism transport companies. As part of its new marketing plan, the JTB offers an integrated programme of international promotional activities including representations, trade fairs, workshops, roadshows and familiarisation trips.
