Scientific-Atlanta expands commitment to Asia and Middle East with office in Dubai

With projects underway or in discussion for the heavily populated India and Pakistan markets, the new Dubai office will enable Scientific-Atlanta to provide rapid response to customer requests. In addition, as new opportunities develop in the Middle East, the company can support those customers more efficiently from the Dubai office than from its European or Pacific locations.

"The UAE is known as the technology center of the Middle East and is famous as the business and tourism leader in the region," said Brent Smith, director of sales for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States/India/Pakistan for Scientific-Atlanta. "Locating our operations in the trading and business hub for the Middle East, India, and Pakistan makes sound business sense, much like having an office in Hong Kong for the Asia Pacific area. We plan to leverage our new location to expand our support for existing customers and as a base for increasing our ability to serve new organizations across the Middle East and western Asia."

Smith, a seven-year veteran of the broadband and satellite industry in Asia, was general manager for Star TV in Asia prior to joining Scientific-Atlanta. Engineering support for Scientific-Atlanta customers served by the new office will be provided by Robert Giacomuzzi, former CTO for Worldcall in Pakistan.
