Technip, $800m Qatar cracker deal

France-based Technip is set to build a 1.3m tonne per year ethylene cracker in Qatar in a potential deal worth $800m. The project will be owned by Qatar Petrochemical Company with Total Petrochemicals through their Qatofin joint venture, and Qatar Petroleum with Chevron Phillips Chemical through their Q-Chem II co-owned project. Engineering contracts worth $2.6bn are expected to be awarded in June and October.
